An access log is a detailed list of all the files which were accessed by the visitors of a given site. Each and every file which was requested for whatever reason will be listed, so if you have one page with three embedded pictures, one video and one embedded text file, for example, the access log shall contain a total of six entries - one for any of the 6 files that were accessed when the visitor opened the webpage. A log normally shows the file name and path, the date, as well as the visitor’s OS, web browser and IP address. Occasionally you may also find the referrer websites that sent the visitors to your site. The data which an access log file contains is in human-readable plain text format. It can also be processed by special software on a PC and used to write reports on the overall performance of a website, besides the web statistics your hosting server may have produced.

from us, you shall be able to decide if access logs should be produced and for which domains or subdomains inside your account this should be done. you host or subdomain you set up shall be listed there and you see an On/Off option next to each one of them, so you can effortlessly enable or disable the generation of access logs individually for every single site that you have. Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers
If you have a semi-dedicated server
account with us, it won't take more than several mouse clicks to activate the generation of access logs by our system if you need them. The feature may be enabled from the Hepsia website hosting Control Panel and this can be done independently for each domain name or subdomain you have inside your account. When you log in and check out the Access/Error Logs section of the CP, you'll discover a list of all the hostnames with an On/Off button next to all of them. A single click will trigger the log generation and a second one shall deactivate it, so you can control this feature with great simplicity. Even when the logs are disabled, you shall still be able to download the data that's been previously generated.
