Started in 2001, the .NAME generic domain name extension is the sole TLD planned for personal websites only. These domains can include personal or fictional names, nicknames and/or other titles people are popular by. At first, only 3rd-level registrations were possible, so if you planned to register john.doe.name, you were supposed to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration procedures were loosened and 2nd-level registrations were also allowed. Already grabbed third-level domain names remained running.

You will have the chance to alter the WHOIS contact information, to park your domain, to edit Custom DNS records, etc. You can also transfer an already purchased domain to our company if you take its EPP transfer key from the current registrar and we will renew it after the transfer has been completed. There are no particular stipulations on who can purchase a .NAME domain, but in order to preserve the idea behind its creation alive, the .NAME Registry organization may verify who the owner is and if there is no link between the owner and the actual domain name, the registration can be challenged.
